The Fairmount

Working within the original 1902 footprint, we revitalized the first floor by opening the walls between the dining, kitchen, and foyer, recreating original trim, restoring the original pocket doors and adding double archways to seamlessly connect these spaces in an authentic way.

The reimagined kitchen, now the heart of the home, features beautiful symmetry around a custom plaster range hood, elegant marble stone worktops and shelf, and custom cream cabinetry. Brass lighting, deVOL hardware, and stunning unlaquered brass plumbing fixtures anchor the island, contributing to the kitchen’s timeless beauty.

The mudroom, with its moody black-green cabinetry and marble checkerboard tile, adds depth and warmth, while its thoughtful design ensures that everything has its place. This space enhances kitchen function beautifully.

The dining area now feels light and airy, with an art deco chandelier and sconces paired with cozy velvet chairs and a European reclaimed table. Upgrading the built-in cabinetry while maintaining classic lines allowed us to marry both function and authenticity. We replaced the original two smaller windows with two sets of nine foot tall custom designed exterior French doors that flood the space with light, making it an ideal area for entertaining. Beautifully restored pocket doors lead into the bright and inviting living room. The living room furnishings are kept neutral and cozy, while the Parisian-inspired light fixture and original woodwork elevate the space. The Fairmount design blends timeless elegance with modern functionality, creating a seamless and welcoming atmosphere perfect for both daily living and entertaining.
